Sh7million shoes and other rare sneakers

A pair of ‘Ultra Rare’ Apple sneakers is up for grabs at $50,000 (Sh7.1 million) from the auction house Sotheby’s.

The white men’s trainers come in US size 10.5 with an extra pair of red laces. They feature two old-school Apple logos at the tongue and lateral quarter as well as an air-cushioned heel.

According to Sotheby’s, the pair has never been available to the public since it is believed that they were custom-made for Apple employees more than ten years ago.

This explains why the price range is as high as the most expensive Apple product, which goes for $53,000 (Sh7.4 million).

However, they have some imperfections that come with age, which include yellowing around the midsoles and glue as well as light marks on the toe boxes.

You would think that these are the most expensive sneakers but Nike Skateboarding (SB) Dunk Low Paris Bernard Buffet takes the cake.

From Sotheby’s, a pair of these SB Dunks goes for $90,000 (Sh12.8 million).

When the collection was initially released in 2003, only 200 pairs were manufactured. They feature canvas overlays decorated with the artwork of an exalted French painter, Bernard Buffet.

It is unique due to the fact that no two pairs are exactly alike.

And if you are a sneaker lover, when you hear of Kanye West, Yeezys come to your mind before his music. During the old days when West partnered with Nike, they manufactured Nike Air Yeezy ‘Black/Glow’.

It was a personal one-on-one collection for West but he never wore them. The pair was all black with a white Nike swoosh logo visible at the ankle and a glow-in-the-dark sole.

In 2016, it was on sale for $65,000 (Sh9.2 million) on eBay.

Still on rare shoes, Satan’s shoes promoted by musician Lil Nas X sold for $1,018 (Sh145,000) but the theme is what made them popular.

Manufactured by MSCHF, they featured an air bubble sole containing 60 cubic centimetres of red ink and a drop of human blood.

A total of 666 pairs were manufactured and were totally sold out in less than a minute.
