Tina Turner’s daughter-in-law Afida will use sperm gifted by late husband to become a mother.

Ronnie, Tina Turner’s late son, gifted his wife sperm as a birthday gift before he died. Afida now says she is going to have his child with the sperm he froze.

Devastated by the death of Ronnie and Turner, she said the only thing keeping her holding on is the possibility of motherhood.

“I'm going to have Ronnie's baby!” she said in an interview with People. “If I can. I’m 46. But we’ll see,” she added.

Ronnie died of colon cancer at the age of 62 in December 2022. His mother Tina Turner died a few months later at the age of 83 in May 2023.

"It was very sad that Ronnie passed, and then his mom passed six months after. It is very difficult for me because people only see the music or the pictures, but I go back home and scream the names of my loved ones. [That pain] will never go away," she told People.

"I'm still very depressed and thinking about very bad, dark, bad stuff. You don't want to go through this in life. You have to talk to God, otherwise you go nuts and kill yourself. I'm suffering and my heart is destroyed. I'm trying not to lose my mind," the French singer painfully admitted.

Afida wants to carry a little Ronnie look-alike through IVF on December 22 before her next birthday.

"It's still bad because he's not here, but what can I do?" she said. "At least I will have a little one that looks like Ronnie. A monster like me and him, can you imagine?"

Afida met Ronnie in 2005 and the connection was immediate. She was however hesitant because of Ronnie’s drug-related arrests and cocaine possession charges in 1999.

"I will not be with you if you're still doing all that kind of rock and roll lifestyle, smoking and stuff like that," she told Ronnie. "So I said, 'No, we're just going to be friends.’” Ronnie did not give up and they got married in 2007.

Ronnie was sober for three years before his death and was living a health-conscious lifestyle and was ready to be a father.

However, doctors detected a tumour and diagnosed him with metastatic colon cancer which was at its late stage. The cancer spread to other organs. He collapsed on the sidewalk outside of their home while Afida was away.

"Ronnie left me a very nice gift,” she said referring to the sperm. "He was a big character with big energy and craziness who was perfect. I won't ever find another man like that in my life."
