Moses Kuria says Omondi did not refund him

 Trade CS Moses Kuria has denied receiving any money from Eric Omondi.

Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has refuted claims that comedian Eric Omondi refunded him the money he had used to sponsor his trip to the United States seven years ago.

A week ago, Omondi posted a screenshot of an M-Pesa transaction on his Instagram page, indicating that he had sent Sh126,000 to the CS as reimbursement for the trip.

Hawk-eyed Kenyans, however, noticed some discrepancies in the message, including the maximum amount one can transact during a day, hinting that the message might have been doctored.

This was after the duo participated in a debate on Citizen TV dubbed, Kenya’s Big Conversation.

Kuria opened up about how he once financed a tour abroad for Omondi, a decision he said he now ‘regrets.’

“Seven years ago, I took Eric Omondi to America using my money so he can see the world but from the way he is talking right now, it would have been better if I used that money to party because I don’t see the point he is trying to push through,” Kuria pointed out during the live broadcast.

During an interview with Eve Mungai this week, Omondi called the CS and put him on speaker to confirm that he had refunded the money.

However, Kuria denied receiving money from the comedian, likening it to pouring water into a lake.

"Hello, I'm here with Eve Mungai. She is asking if I refunded you the money," said the entertainer.

"Tell her you can't pour water into a lake. The CS has a lot of money and you can't refund him," said Kuria.

Eve then interjected by asking the CS whether Omondi had edited the message and he said: "Yes, imagine Eric Omondi refunding me Sh26,000? Leave alone Sh126,000.”

Omondi then said the CS had failed to see his message due to the volume of M-Pesa messages he gets in a day.
