About half a million condoms will be available for Safari Rally enthusiasts at the World Rally Championships in Naivasha.
This is according to Stanley Ngara, the founder of the King of Condoms drive that promotes safe sex. Ngara says this is just a precautionary measure to ensure those who might indulge in sex do it in a safe way.
"There is still a challenge in condom importation due to high taxation but we have factored in for the rally event and have 500,000 condoms from our partners and sponsors," he says.
Adding: "Our purpose during the five days is to educate people about safe sex, demonstrate how to use condoms, and distribute them to those in need."
Ngara says due to tough economic times, condoms that were retailing at Sh50 have shot to Sh200 while some are ranging between Sh1,000 are about Sh1,500.
"Safari Rally is an international event that will attract a lot of people that is why we have partnered with some organizers to pitch tents there," he says.
According to the man, most of the non-governmental organizations that used to provide condoms stopped shipping them in 2019 due to many bottlenecks.
During the last event, traffic in Naivasha was paralyzed due to an influx of visitors who set up camps along the roads, making merry late into the night.
