Ntimama 'son' asks government to finish tarmacking road named after late leader

NEWS

The late Maasai political kingpin William ole Ntimama was honoured with a road named after him in Juja, Kiambu County.

At the Toll area, Thika Superhighway, a road signpost stands conspicuously reading 'Sir Ntimama Road'.

The 3.1-kilometre stretch connects the superhighway and Kiganjo road, passing near the two popular dams and several resorts where many revellers and families hang out during weekends.

Off this road, there is also a lane and drive named after the politician who also served as Narok North MP and a Cabinet Minister.

The road got its name in 2017 after Ntimama passed on in September 2016. Last year, about two kilometres of this road were tarmacked.

George Njoroge who claims he is the son of the late leader said a powerful person in the previous government pushed for his recognition with a road name near his (Njoroge) residence.

 Njoroge and the late Ntimama.

He asked the government to complete tarmacking it to draw more investors and visitors to entertainment spots along the road.

"Tarmacking the road has spurred development around this area. Government should complete this upgrading that started last year," he said.

Adding, "I have not sired a boy to name after Mzee Ntimama but I am happy a road near my home bears his name".

In Narok town, a stadium was renamed after Ntimama in February 2020. He served as Chairman of the defunct Narok County Council. Njoroge who bears striking resemblance to Ntimama claims the late politician and his mother Rebecca Wanjiku (deceased) were lovers but went separate ways after he was born.
