Two women were in court for committing unlawful destruction of church property. Christine Nabwire Mbaraga and Lilian Gatete Achieng are said to have committed the offence on February 7 within Rauraka area. It is alleged that the two and others not before the court unlawfully pulled down a perimetre wall of the Full Gospel Churches of Kenya.
The two were in a group that marched to the church and proceeded to demolish the perimeter wall and then put up market stalls in the compound. The church caretaker and security guards alerted police officers who arrived at the scene and arrested two men but others, including Mbaraga and Achieng, managed to flee. They were arrested on March 2 following investigations.
In court, they denied the charges and were set free on a bond of Sh100,000. The case will be heard on June 27.
