An administrator has stirred serious debate by challenging women to allow their husbands to marry additional wives.
Enos Nyawade, the Assistant Chief of Kajwang' Sub-location in Ndhiwa Sub-county has started a discourse that has elicited reactions from many women.
Nyawade now wants women to accept polygamy and allow their husbands to marry additional wives when the latter feels like doing so. He argues that this will enhance peace in families.
The administrator said there are many domestic cases in which women are accusing their husbands in the local administrator's office. The majority of them revolve around men who are accused of planning to marry or have married additional wives.
But such complaints have caused domestic violence which has culminated in injuries or loss of lives. The latest incident occurred last week in which a 32-year-old of man who is a boda boda rider was killed by his wife because he was planning to marry a second wife.
Michael Ondiala died after being stabbed with a knife by his wife at Miyoro village, Kajwang' Sub-location in Ndhiwa Sub-county.
The wife of the bodaboda rider told Nyawade that their domestic issues started when the woman realised that her husband was courting another woman he wanted to marry as his second wife.
The suspect who was later detained at Ndhiwa police station said the relationship between her husband and the new catch created a big rift between them, leading a serious hatred.
