Faith Momanyi aka Faith Stan is one of the newest kids on the block, but you would not tell this by the way she handles herself. Her music is mature, her style schooled and definitely, her gutsy nature makes her a cut above many newbies in the industry.

Born in Nakuru and raised in Kisii, Stan’s musical sound is influenced and inspired by a lot of factors.

“I think the kind of music I do is a bit different, but I drive a lot of inspiration from Vivian. I feel my vibe in some of her songs and I most definitely look up to her,” she says. Stan’s sound is a blend of Afro-pop and dancehall.

While her single Jirani Ananimada dropped, she proved she is a force to reckon with. This saw her do a remix of the same featuring bad boy of showbiz, Timmy TDat.

“My musical breakthrough was during the pandemic when I released Jirani Ananimada. The song blew beyond proportion, but I never got to sell the song due to the lockdown,” she says.

This saw her get a chance of working with Timmy TDat. “My collabo with Timmy came through the former assistant manager to comedian Eric Omondi, who texted me on Instagram and told me how the song was big and that he could help me get a collabo with TDat. That is how he hooked me up with him and we did the remix,” she says.

This was not her first project. She had dropped a couple of videos before but had not gotten much traction. After Jirani Ananimada is when the industry recognised her.

“I started music in 2016 while at JKUAT. The videos did not do well, but again, it is a learning curve,” she says.

Stan has since released other projects including; Bebe, Penzi Moto and Mr DJ.

Stan was introduced to music while in high school where she actively participated in the music and drama festivals. She was so passionate about music, but it never occurred to her that she could consider it a career.

It was in 2016 that the sensational RnB artiste recorded her debut song - this was just days after she completed high school.

Although now working as an independent artiste, Stan was signed to Big Dreams Records under producer Ricky Bekko, but had to opt-out of the contract.

“I would not want to talk about the reason we terminated the contract, but I am now working alone.”

Being a female upcoming artiste, her journey has not been a walk in the park. Stan admits to having gone through challenges.

From lacking money to record her music and shoot her videos to people taking advantage of her, her Christian upbringing keeps her grounded.

The secular artiste also doubles up as a fashion enthusiast, and owns an online clothing store.

Stan has progressed from a young naive girl who began her musical career as a choir member to a ballsy-sounding artiste, who is currently working on her debut EP, which she claims will be released shortly.

“Were it not for music, I would be an actress. I have been cast in local movies and I also write scripts,” she says.
