Kenyan hip-hop artiste Nyamari Ongegu aka Nyashinski on Wednesday spoke about his unique style of music and the amount of work he puts in to ensure he delivers quality.

Speaking during a live rehearsal held at The Winning Post, Ngong Racecourse, Nyashinski said he has been preparing for his Shin City concert for almost three months now and has given his all.

Asked whether he will have some artistes curtain-raise for him, the Malaika hitmaker noted that more often than not musicians show up for such events to just perform and pocket a certain amount of money which is not sustainable.

“We have been rehearsing for two months now. Some artistes might come to such shows and give their rate cards, which is fine, but some might not have put the same amount of effort that we have and there will be a disconnect.

“There is a cycle of getting paid to curtain-raise then using that money to produce a music video and going back to curtain-raise. This is not sustainable,” he said in part.

Further, Nyashinski said Shin City, a concert slated for April 16, 2022, at Carnivore grounds is a dream come true, labelling it one of the biggest projects in his music career.

"It is a dream coming true. It means a lot to me. It is the biggest project I have ever done in my life.

“I have given it everything. I have called all my friends…I invited you here to appreciate the effort and experience what we have in store for our fans,” he remarked.

Nyashinski added that they are big on precision and want to give value for money during the concert.

"It is a production-led experience, I want us to think of it as more than just a gig. It is many different elements coming together to make it happen. Shin City is part, of the show itself, and the experience on the ground.

"We are following a scripted specific order to ensure the presentation is precise. I want to give guys value for their money."
