Renowned CNN Journalist Larry Madowo and his friend Edith Kimani were the talk of the town yesterday after they posted loved-up photos on their social media accounts.
Kimani, who is a media personality and news anchor at German TV news station Deutsche Welle took to her Instagram account to upload a cosy image where she caressed Madowo’s chin as the two gazed into each other’s eyes.
“My sweet Larry Madowo,” Kimani captioned the image.
“Hey boo!” Madowo wrote back under the image.
The internet was thrown into a frenzy by the photo, and the speculation was further fuelled by the pair’s celebrity friends appearing to congratulate them.
“I knew you have always been looking for a Bald Man. Congratulations for bagging yourself one. And they lived happily ever after,” Afro-pop band Sauti Sol vocalist Bien Aime Baraza wrote.
And the images were circulated on Twitter and Instagram, where Kenyans quickly debated as to whether the pair are an item.
Larry Madowo posted his own version of the cute pictures, this time with the two hugging, both grinning cheerfully.
OMG Voice Kenya, a popular Facebook page posted the images to their 500,000 followers.
Eligible bachelor
“Larry ni kama amepata mtu,” the group captioned the photos, suggesting that eligible bachelor Larry had finally found the one that he would settle down with.
“Love is such a beautiful thing,” wrote a fan going by Rashid Mwazame.
“Alimpata kitambo,” Collins Sande wrote, adding an image of the pair seemingly from years back, in the KTN newsroom where they both worked before.
However, the viral images may have been taken during a platonic evening where old journalist pals came together.
Popular media personality Betty Kyalo, who had appeared on the pair’s Instagram stories was present, as well as BBC Journalist Bonnie Tunya among others in a subtle party of under ten people.
“My friends are very good people,” Kyalo captioned an image of the group sitted together on a couch.
The group have hang out before in the past, taking to Instagram to chronicle the good times they have.
“kichekesho kwa wingi,” Kimani captioned a group picture in July, saying that their sit-down was full of laughter.
Madowo has not been linked to a relationship before, remaining consistently private about his personal life. Kimani has been previously linked to Timothy Mbugua, who is the twin brother of popular media personality Janet Mbugua.
In an old post dated July 2020, Kimani posted a loved up picture with an unknown man, the two leaning towards each other in an almost kiss.
The image was shadowy, and she captioned it romantically with a sweet statement.
“We may not get to forever, but now is all I need,” Kimani wrote.
It is however difficult to tell if the man in the image is Timothy, Larry, or someone else entirely.
