Safe stolen from Carlo Ancelotti's home in masked burglar raid

A safe was stolen from the home of Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti during a burglary on Friday night. As first reported by the Liverpool Echo, police were called to the house in Blundellsands, shortly after 6.30pm. It's understood that two men approached the home of the Toffees boss and gained entry.

The burglars, described as wearing black waterproof clothing and black balaclavas ran from the house after being disturbed by the daughter of the Italian coach. However, while no-one was hurt during the break-in, the safe was taken, as confirmed by the Echo.

Former AC Milan, Chelsea and Real Madrid boss is not believed to have been at the scene at the time of the break-in. In a statement, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police confirmed: “We are appealing for information after a safe was stolen in a burglary in Crosby on Friday evening (12 February).

“We were called at 6.35pm to a report two males had entered a property on Hall Road East at around 6.30pm. The offenders were described as wearing black waterproof clothing, possibly with white writing on, and black balaclavas. The occupants of the house were unharmed. Officers attended and enquiries into the incident are ongoing. The property will be forensically examined and CCTV opportunities are being explored.”

The incident comes a matter of days after Ancelotti, who joined Everton in December 2019, admitted how much he was enjoying living in the area once again. The Italian has been outspoken on his fondness for living in the Crosby area since joining the club, having put down roots there with his wife and their three dogs.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Ancelotti, 61, said: “I have to be honest, I feel really good here. “I don’t feel a lot of pressure. I live in a nice area. There is a really strong relationship with the supporters. There are not a lot of critics.”

Last year, he told the New York Times: “It’s a beautiful place. “It’s close to the sea,” he said. “There’s a beautiful beach. A long beach. There is really nice cycling, really nice walks. You can walk all the way to Formby on the coastal path. There are the Gormley Statues, 100 of them, on the beach. I really like it.”
