“I can do all things in Christ,” reads an inscription on his shoe, and it is not accidental. Athletes are not known to bring the Bible to the game - but that’s exactly what American professional basketball player for the Golden State Warriors, Stephen Curry, is doing with his trademark shoes.

Curry literally brings Jesus Christ to the court, and he will stop at nothing to spread the word. That is what shoemaker Nike found out recently. It is rumoured that Nike were unhappy that Curry scripted a Bible verse on his shoes. Curry broke his deal with Nike after they allegedly refused to give in to his request to have a Bible verse written on his footwear.

The Bible verse in question is Philippians 4:13, which says, “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” “The inscription ‘I can do all things’ represents a Bible verse I wear on my shoes,” said Curry. “Philippians 4:13. It says ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’ It’s also my mantra, how I get up for games and why I play the way I do,” Curry told the media.

With Nike out, the 6’3” sharpshooter struck a deal with shoemaker Under Armour, who agreed to Curry’s request - that a Bible verse be written on his shoes. “I know where my talent comes from. I know why I play the game, and it’s not to score 30 points a night, but it’s to use the stage I’m on. I’ve been put here for a specific purpose: to be a witness and to share my testimony as I go through it,” Curry said.
