News
 Tom Holland.

Tom Holland will reportedly be joined by previous iterations of Spider-Man in his third solo Marvel outing. According to Collider, the Spider-Man: Far From Home sequel will see comebacks for previous actors who played the role in past iterations of the franchise. The publications suggests we can see returns for Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst from the Sam Raimi trilogy as Spider-Man/Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson, respectively.

Additionally, the subsequent 2012 revamp's leads Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are also set to return as that series' Spidey and Gwen Stacy, respectively. The report comes after The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Alfred Molina will reprise his role as Doctor Otto Octavius from 2004's Spider-Man 2 in the new film.

The same publication previously reported that Jamie Foxx would be returning as Electro/Max Dillon after last being seen in the role in 2014 film The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opposite Andrew Garfield's incarnation of Spider-Man/Peter Parker.

It would appear that the film is set to mirror the multiverse-spanning animated adventure Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which featured multiple parallel versions of the character from different universes.

It has also been reported by website Murphy's Multiverse that Charlie Cox will reprise his role as blind superhero Daredevil/Matt Murdoch from the Netflix MCU series Daredevil in the film. Daredevil ran for three seasons on Netflix until its cancellation in 2018. The film will also see returns for the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Spidey cast members.

Will Strange be the key to these various iterations of Spidey characters appearing?

Strange's film will also feature Elizabeth Olsen reprising her role as Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff who is due to appear in her own reality-bending series on Disney+ in January, entitled WandaVision. The series, which also stars Paul Bettany as the android Vision, could be the key to understanding the increasingly complicated multiverse in upcoming films.

The untitled Spider-Man sequel is set for release in cinemas on December 17, 2021.
