Several Kenyans have taken to social media to express their views after the arrest of Olympic and World 3000M SC champion Conseslus Kipruto over defilement charges. The Olympic steeplechase champion was arraigned before a Kapsabet Court in Nandi County, where he denied defiling a 15-year-old girl.

Dressed in a red jumper, blue jeans, and dark shades, the runner arrived at the courts at around 11 am. Protesters were lined outside, holding placards and chanting while seeking justice. According to the charge sheet, Kipruto defiled a girl aged 15 between October 20th and 21st, 2020, at Tironin village in Mutwot, Nandi County. Appearing before Principal Magistrate D. Ocharo, Kipruto denied the charges and was freed on Sh200,000 bond.
