Residents of a three-storey apartment block in Utawala woke up to shock after finding out that their houses had been broken into on Tuesday evening and no one heard a thing. In a video seen by the Standard Entertainment and Lifestyle, the residents said all houses were broken into but there was no commotion.
Some suspected that they were drugged because they had safely locked their houses from inside but surprisingly all the doors were left wide open on Wednesday morning. “We realized we had been robbed at around 5am but we suspect the incident took place at around 3am. All our doors were left open and electronics has been stolen. Some have also lost money and other valuables,” said a resident of the flat.
Adding: “I had locked my door well but somehow all locks were opened.” The thieves also made away with clothes that had been left on hanging lines. Another resident claimed a fortnight ago a car was also stolen near the flat and called on police to patrol the area and bring those involved to book.
Elsewhere, a man purporting to be a lawyer and two other suspects were last night arrested when DCI detectives broke a multi-million fraudulent online car dealers syndicate that purports to operate in Mombasa. The ‘lawyer’, Moses Owino Angelo, and George Tsuma were arrested in Mombasa. The third suspect, Charles Kipsang Koech, alias Charles Brian Koech alias Ibrahim Merrali was arrested in Naivasha.

Two people filed a complaint at DCI Kasarani of having been swindled after making payments for vehicles they had seen posted on an online platform. According to the DCI, investigations have established that Charles Kipsang is the kingpin of the racket. One buyer reported he was led to a car yard on Nairobi's Ngong road to view a Toyota Probox. After making the full payment, he was abducted and dumped in the city centre.
