“We were alerted by residents who were on their normal routine. They had stumbled into the body of a young woman who appears to be 18 years old or younger. The body has been taken to Molo Sub County Hospital morgue,” said area Chief Hassan Waweru. The administrator explained that the young woman who was yet to be identified might have been killed elsewhere before the body was ferried to the village under the cover of darkness.
He noted that no such person had been reported missing in the area. “We don’t have recent reports of a missing person within the village. The residents could not immediately identify her so we suspect that she was killed at a different location and the body dumped here to mislead investigators,” said Waweru.
The body, the residents said was disfigured, a sign that she could have been tortured to death. “Her neck was almost severed from the rest of the body. She had been badly bruised on the face. Her mouth had a deep cut,” said Mirriam Wanjeri, a resident.
