“Happiest birthday to my person, my G and lover boy."

On August 19, Nigerian singer Runtown marked turning 31 with his model girlfriend Adut Akech. Via Instagram, Adut revealed that they marked the singer’s birthday in Paros Island, Greece.

“Happiest birthday to my person, my G and lover boy. I’m grateful to be spending this special day with you. Wishing you more life, success and happiness, love you baby. Go wish SoundGod a happy birthday” she wrote, to which Runtown responded “love you baby” accompanied by a heart emoji.

The couple sparked off relationship rumours a month ago when after a cosy video of the pair in London surfaced. The two are reported to have met during Fashion Week events in Europe where the ‘Mad Over You’ crooner featured for high-end brands’ campaigns such as Dior and Versace.

Runtown and Adut’s relationship make them part of the models-musicians unions which also feature rapper Skepta and Naomi Campbell, Weeknd and Bella Hadid, Travis Scott-Kanye West and Kardashians among others.

Adut grabbed international headlines in 2019 after being named 'Model of the Year' at the British Fashion Awards held in London. Her acceptance speech on diversity in the fashion industry received a standing ovation, marking an eventful year for the South Sudan-born model where she appeared on five Vogue covers in one month.

“It just makes me so happy to see all these models of different skin colours being used for these big brand campaigns, editorials and magazine covers, which wasn’t happening when I started doing it, not that long ago in 2016. It’s a great achievement, but we haven’t reached our end goal yet,” said Adut, who fled from South Sudan to Australia aged 7.

Earlier on in August 2019, she called out Australia's Who Magazine for publishing a story about her with a picture of a different model saying: "I feel as though this would've not have happened to a white model. Not only do I personally feel insulted and disrespected, but I feel like my entire race has been disrespected."
