Joseph Irungu popularly known as Jowie, the key suspect in the murder case of businesswoman Monica Kimani has released a gospel song. Earlier, Jowie had shared news of the August 17 release titled ‘Nishikilie’ with his fans on social media.

Nishikilie coming up soon 19th 08 2020,” wrote Jowie, who later described himself as a ‘conscious musician’ to Standard Entertainment & Lifestyle.

A section on netizens were immensely moved by Jowie’s spiritual growth and went on to ask him to continue seeking God’s guidance through his journey of faith. One wrote: “Jowie, I thank God for this. Have been praying for you. You are the age of my last born son. God has started to reveal Himself to you. Let him use you according to His wish. I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. Keep it up and don't turn back.”

“I am crying right now...for the goodness of the Lord over you. I cried and prayed for Jowie. I cried for his parents. And this is what made me more emotional! Go Jowie! May God guide you. I am happy to see you smile. I frankly am,” added another.

Another social user encouraged him to follow his dreams despite his current situation writing: “I thank God for everything he has done for you Jowie, may He continue seeing you in everything good that you're planning to do. This is where you started from and this is what your parents wanted to see. I'm happy for you and may God bless you and cover you with the blood of Jesus. Irungu remember that God loves you so much and there's always a second chance in everything Jowie!”

Arrest

Monica Kimani's parents hold hands at her burial.

Jowie and his ex-fiancée, former news anchor Jacque Maribe were arrested after Monica’s body was found dead at her Lamuria Gardens apartment, Kilimani on September 19 2018. The arrests came after investigators placed Jowie at the scene of the crime and two appeared before Justice Jessie Lessit on October 15, 2018, where they pleaded not guilty to the murder charge. Maribe secured bail not long after and was released whereas Jowie was put behind bars for more than a year for fear of absconding future appearances as he had no known physical address.

“The picture that emerges from the prosecution’s evidence and the pre-bail report of the first accused (Irungu) is that he is a male version of a slay queen which for lack of better terminology I will call a woman eater. He was living in the house of the second accused (Maribe), driving her car with no known source of income since 2017 when he provided security to some Jubilee Party politicians,” Justice Wakiaga said at the time.

Jowie was finally released in February 2020 on a Sh2 million cash bail.
