A new book about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's royal journey and their decision to quit their senior roles has hit the shelves. The book is set to cause a lot of upset behind palace walls, offering a huge amount of detail about the Sussex family's struggles and frustrations.

The couple claim they were not interviewed for the book and had no involvement, something many royal experts have questioned. Authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand penned their book by interviewing 100 people who are close to Meghan and Harry, including friends and aides.

Both are royal reporters who have worked on the royal beat for years, however have been described as "cheerleaders" for the couple. The book is set to be a huge hit with fans, claiming to offer Meghan and Harry's side of the story for the first time.

A number of extracts from the book have already been released, which give an insight in what we can expect. There are details of a fallout between Princes William and Harry, "awkward moments" between Kate and Meghan and general issues with the royal institution as a whole.

The authors suggest there were troubles from early on, saying Harry felt some palace officials "simply didn't like Meghan and would stop at nothing to make her life difficult". He also felt "used" for their popularity.

It also claims that a "tearful" Meghan told a pal she had given up everything to marry Harry and join the royal family. She allegedly made the comment in March, around the time of the tumultuous split from the Firm. They claim that Meghan said: "I gave up my entire life for this family. I was willing to do whatever it takes. But here we are. It’s very sad."

While many believed the decision to quit came from Meghan, the book claims Harry was actually the driving force. But the book says there were problems between Harry and William long before she arrived on the scene, and Harry was already taking steps to distance himself from royal life.

It is said he craved a life away from the media and avoided the pomp as much as he could. The book says: "Meghan simply emboldened him to? make the change."
