Joanne Ball Burgess, better known as Jo-1, the straight-talking judge on Sakata Mashariki, has made an unexpected comeback with her single, Tired Feet.
“The song is a metaphor for when you feel tired and can’t go on with life, and your feet are sore; it’s okay, you can get up and try again. The dreams in your heart are not gone, just take one day at a time and you will realise your dreams,” says the dancer, singer, writer and choreographer. The song, she says, is dear to her heart. She wrote it about 15 years ago but had not found a producer she could trust to embody her vision.

But just as she was about to shoot the video, Covid-19 hit and she was forced to rethink her whole approach. “I found a lot of songs were about washing your hands and sanitising, and that’s important, but not many touched on the impact of the pandemic on our mental health. A lot of dancers don’t have work. They haven’t done gigs all year and one of the stories in my video touches on that.” The music video has a reggae beat.

The weekly event will be going down every Saturday at 3pm under the banner ‘Thrill & Grill’ at the family-friendly Italian restaurant. “It’s happening again! This and every Saturday at the Lucca @Villarosakempinski from 3pm to 7pm. Trust me, it’s worth it! See you on Saturday,” Pierra wrote on her Instagram page. Covid-19 precautions will be in place to safeguard the party, with the indoor and outdoor sections accessible to those in attendance.
