When comedian Jalang’o bid Kisumu bye and rolled into the city with the clothes on his back as the only treasure to his name after completing his O levels, many would have dismissed his chances at making it big time in life at such as short span.

His road to the top as arguably Kenya’s most prolific comedian, most sought after radio host and most contracted corporate emcee was at the time bleak.

Housed at first in Lavington, he moved to be with his uncle in Embakasi. There, he made spirited attempts not to let his fish mongering stint define his life and began job hunting in construction sites while chasing his passion for acting at the Kenya National Theatre.

When his big break came courtesy of a no show “Mwisho Wa Kosa” cast member, he seized destiny by its horns and steered it to wide acclaim in Papa Shirandula before hitting the jackpot on landing his first radio gig at Kiss 100.

Today, in a moving story anchored in faith is his triumph over pain and success after a lengthy struggle in a cutthroat industry. He is one of the few top-earning radio personalities whose rags to riches story is well documented.

Apart from rubbing shoulders with the rich and the mighty in the country, he fittingly lives in a leafy suburb and cruises the city streets in a Bentley, a Range Rover and a Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class among other pricey cars.

While the cars listed above make his car garage, by all standards, an enviable multi-million showroom, his love for cars started small.

With compact dreams funnelled by the now starting to pay talent, his first automobile was a Toyota Starlet registration number KAU 003K.

Making the reveal via his Instagram account on June 30, Jalang’o noted that he owned the car in 2009. At the time, life had made a turn for the better as he now resided at an apartment complex in Kasarani.

“The year is 2009. The venue is the Kenya National Theatre...My first car Starlet KAU 003k At this time My house is in Kasarani...First flat after the Kasarani police. The flat name to date is EPHESIANS and my house is U19 on the 4th floor....Trust the process! God above everything,” said the comedian.

Lest you forget, unlike other petrol heads, Jalang’o in 2018 disclosed that he has over 3,000 pairs of shoes to choose from when he wants to step out to, of course,  put the pedal to the metal.

While he has over the years generously given some away to his fans, the comic at the time narrated that he buys up to four new pairs every week!
