Flamboyant singer Esther Akoth, popularly known as Akothee, has come out to reminisce days she was struggling as an upcoming singer.
In a long Instagram post, the mother of five narrated how she used to ‘beg local celebrities to at least give her a shout out on their platforms’.
Akothee, who now enjoys over two million followers on Instagram, revealed that before fame, she had about three thousand followers who didn’t even know who she was or what she does for a living.
In the post, the Abebo hitmaker exclaimed at how tables have now turned and went on to reveal that some of the celebrities she pleaded with, have fewer followers than her.
“I remember the days when I had 3000 followers I saw enough sh*t on these streets. I begged some celebrities with big following then, to help me post my work, and they refused, I didn’t die, I kept pushing,” she wrote.

The singer who doubles ups as an entrepreneur went on to call some of them out as hypocrites saying she really does not have time for them.
“Even now, there are some fake hypocrites, who still chat me on WhatsApp, they will comment on my wall, but never share my content. Now I have two million followers, don’t even talk to me. I better spend the time I waste chatting with you on WhatsApp, to post something for my fans, they are loyal,” she said.
The self-proclaimed president of single mothers further cautioned the alleged celebrities and told them that if they cannot support her in public, then they better not do it privately.
“If you can’t support me in public, usinipake mafuta kwa mgongo wa chupa in private. One word for progressive growth,” she added.
Thanking her two million-strong followers for their continued support and loyalty, she posted: “My loyal fans, I Esther Akoth Kokeyo, mother of many, says thank you very much.”
Earlier this month, her social media fans made public that her father had been rushed to the hospital and one of her stewards had lost his father.
She further revealed that on the same day, she got news from Turkana that a young boy she has been taking care of had broken his leg and arm after being assaulted and left for dead.
“I have been looking for you since schools closed so I could send food with no results, no one to communicate with, only to receive this sad news that you were beaten to death with some drunkards who first broke your leg, and now your arm, your sister was taken to some interior and dumped there with no food and nobody,” the singer’s post read in part.
