Shaggy shares struggles of trying to reunite with family during COVID-19 lockdown

News
Shaggy shares struggles of trying to reunite with his family during lockdown.

First Bruce Willis was quarantined away from his wife and youngest daughters.

Now another star has revealed he’s in lockdown away from his family – reggae singer Shaggy.

But if his wife questions why he didn’t join them, he has a Boombastic excuse....It Wasn’t Me. It was Jamaica.

For Shaggy, who shot to fame with his catchy hits including Oh Carolina and In the Summertime, had been told to quarantine in New York for 14 days after his recent UK tour before returning to his home in Jamaica.

However just days before he was due to leave the Big Apple, The Caribbean island closed its borders.

This has left Shaggy separated for the past eight weeks from wife Rebecca, eldest daughter Sydney, 13, and twin daughters Madison and Kelsey, nine.

Shaggy, real name Orville Richard Burrell, explained how he’s trying to put things right: “I’ve been on the phone with the ambassador of Jamaica and she’s been working tirelessly to get me back in.”

He went on: “It’s bad. I speak to my wife every day and I miss her so much.”

Shaggy, 51, has been trying to keep distracted, with his new album HotShot, out on July 10.

But his beloved Rebecca won’t be far from his thoughts.
