As the country continues to fight the coronavirus (COVID-19) which has seen businesses crippled and movement restricted, some Kenyan celebrities have gone out of their way to ensure the less fortunate have the essentials to push them through tough times. From sanitizers, masks, food to sanitary towels, these celebrities’ donations have impacted many families.
Akothee
Famed as Kenya’s richest female musician, Esther Akoth aka Akothee has been working extremely hard to better the lives of needy families across Kenya. For her 2020 birthday, the businesswoman through her charity The Akothee Foundation purchased maize flour worth over Sh500,000.
Announcing on Instagram, Akothee explained that she opted to celebrate her birthday with the less fortunate adding that 100 bales of flour had already been dispatched to Kilifi.

“The month of April being my birthday month and most of my family members, I saw it prudent not to celebrate my birthday alone but to share with the community. I have donated 100 bales of unga to Kilifi County courtesy of Akothee the artist and from Akothee Foundation,” she wrote.
Stivo Simple Boy
Popular Kenyan musician Stivo SimpleBoy recently made a trip to Kibera and donated food to area residents. The artist documented his visit on Instagram with pictures of him alongside the Made in Kibera Production team.
Octopizzo
Celebrated Kenyan rapper Henry Ohanga alias Octopizzo also donated food items to the less fortunate in Kibera slums a few weeks ago, hoping to ease a few of the resident’s difficult situation.
The rapper through an initiative dubbed Kibera Food Drive was able to reach a good number of Kibera residents that needed help.

"In every community, there is work to be done. In every nation, there are wounds to heal. In every heart, there is the power to do it, thanks to all who were part of making the Kibera Food Drive in Silanga a success," he wrote.
Reverend Lucy Natasha
Renowned city preacher Reverend Lucy Natasha through her charity initiative Natasha Hand of Compassion recently gave out food and hand sanitizers to families struggling to make ends meet.
The celebrity pastor shared pictures with her team seen distributing goodies to the families.
“The Love of God upon our hearts makes us be a blessing to others. I declare heavenly abundance upon your life,” she wrote on Facebook.
The preacher also provided matatu operators with masks and sanitizers writing; "They will be used by drivers and conductors as they serve commuters and will go a long way in ensuring public health safety in bus stations. May the challenges along your way be turned into being your ladder of success," she said.
King Kaka
“I will donate my share to the needy families during this trying time,” the Wajinga Nyinyi hit-maker pledged on Twitter.
Through the King Kaka Sanitary Bank Campaign, the rapper has continued distributing sanitary towels in slums.
“The King Kaka Sanitary Bank Campaign has today distributed sanitary towels to young adolescents mothers from Kiandutu Slums, Kiambu County,” he wrote.
Terence Creative
Comedian Lawrence Macharia alias Terence Creative asked that his share of the payout to artists from the government be redirected to help families in need.
“Hello, government please direct my money as an artist to assist in fighting this pandemic and the needy Kenyans who can’t put anything on the table cause if the current situation,” he wrote.
