Ruth Matete off of social media, deactivates all her accounts

Renowned Kenyan singer, Ruth Matete whose husband passed on a few days ago is nowhere to be found after she deactivated all her social media accounts.

The gospel singer cum Minister on Sunday, April 12, took to her Facebook account to announce the death of her husband, Pastor John Apewajoye alias Beloved John who is said to have succumbed to burn injuries sustained after a gas explosion accident at their home in Athi River.

“My husband Beloved John Apewajoye has gone to be with the lord… I humbly ask for your prayers during this difficult time,” wrote Matete on Facebook.

According to a source close to the family, Beloved John Apewajoye was admitted in the ICU on Monday, April 6 and passed on six days later.

Before deactivating her social media accounts, thousands of Kenyan including her musical counterparts joined the Former Tusker Project Fame (TPF) winner in mourning the Apewajoye’s tragic passing.

On the forefront were the singer’s gospel music counterparts such as Evelyne Wanjiru and Kambua who extended their prayer for peace and comfort as she mourned the passing of her husband

“Words fail me my sister #RuthMatete this is a tough one. My sincere heartfelt condolences for losing your husband #BelovedJohnApewajoye just a few months after your wedding. May God comfort and give you peace darling. Pole sana,” wrote Wanjiru.

“What do you say? No words are enough to comfort you @ruth_matete. May the God of all comfort, in His own infinite power carry you. May He catch and wipe your tears. May He lift your head and may your beloved rest in eternal peace,” comforted Kambua.

She on Thursday, April 16, however, recorded a statement at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices over circumstances in which the Nigerian music minister died.

According to sources, the Nigerian embassy –involved after queries were raised by a man claiming to be Apewajoye’s friend and manager, is reportedly awaiting postmortem.
