In 2012, gospel singer Kambua said ‘I Do’ to pastor Jackson Mathu in a colourful private garden wedding held at the Windsor Golf Hotel. A day she often describes as magical.
“Right after our wedding ceremony, there was a heavy downpour. It was magical! I remember this day like it was yesterday when the hubs and I exchanged vows. I remember my excitement and anxiety all interwoven into a beautiful tapestry that would be our future,” recalled Kambua.

However, getting into marriage the Bado Nasimama crooner admits to having had an endless list of expectations that did not quite turn out as anticipated.
Marking her 8th year wedding anniversary, the Rauka show host went down memory lane and recalled her seven years of waiting on God to bless her family with a child.
“As with every wedding the ministers prayed and spoke blessings over us...blessed my womb, and spoke fruitfulness over us. And as an eager wide-eyed bride, I said a resounding "Amen!"
“What I did not know then, was that I would be sitting in 'the waiting room' for 7 years. 7! I would watch my friends have babies- one, then two, then five...! I would attend endless baby showers and first birthdays. In the waiting room, I would walk with friends who were devastated at the 'inconvenience' of a badly timed pregnancy. Whoa. I didn't know how accustomed I would be to the one line on a pregnancy test. Empty arms, empty womb, empty heart,” she wrote.
Hope
Despite the intrusive and negative comments that flooded her timeline, Kambua explained that she kept her faith and concentrated on growing spiritually.
“But then God healed me. He healed my heart and shifted my mind. He lifted my head even when mockery and shame arose. He remained the voice of truth. And after I had made my peace with him, that he would bless me in whichever way, at whatever time, then heaven moved. My name was called. I had been next in line and didn't even know it! With hope and yes, a lot of anxiety I exited the waiting room and became a mother. God has honoured me in ways I can never fathom. Not by anything I did, but by His grace. He is a God who loves us. He is faithful. He remains undefeated.”

Not too long ago, the renowned gospel singer hosted a lavish thanksgiving party.
“When God gave me you, He knew exactly what I needed. You have loved me, defended, and protected me. You spoke life to me even when curses and insults were piled on me. There's not a day in our (nearly 8) years of marriage that you made me feel less of a woman for not bearing children. You constantly reminded me that I am your companion, and I am enough.
“But you also reminded me that God promised to fill our quiver, and I now watch in awe as He has begun to fulfil His promise. To many more years Baba Muhoro. Father of my beautiful child(ren)! To many more Mathu,” she wrote.
