Celebrated gospel artiste Mercy Masika took to social media to shower her husband of 12 years with praises on his birthday.

According to the 'Mwema' singer, saying ‘I do’ to her husband, David Muguro, is the best decision she has ever made.

In a short and sweet caption on her Instagram post, the mother of two praised her husband saying she has flourished in her career under his care.

"Happy birthday to my love. You are the best decision I made 12years ago and my life has flourished and continues to under your care. These things are deep," wrote Masika.

On his part, Muguro posted a photo of himself in a pure white attire seated at the edge of a boat that he captioned: “Celebrating a new mile. The horizon is wide and vast and there is no holding back.”

The couple met in 2007 when Masika had gone to perform at a wedding where he was the videographer.

The two would later go on their first date at a hotel near city hall and after a short courtship in 2008, the couple held their wedding at the prestigious Lenana School.

Speaking with Samantha’s Bridal late last year, the gospel power couple revealed that just like any other relationships, theirs is not perfect.

“A lot of marriages fail when you are doing totally different things. Because if you’re in East and your partner is in West both of you meet a lot of people. I think it’s good to work together. We’re the best of friends because we go through the ups and downs together,” she said.

In the same interview, the Nikupendeze hitmaker disclosed that at some point she felt like walking out.

“Our first fights I don’t remember but I recall there’s a time I packed and I was going home and then he came and talked to me. But what really shocked me was now we’re married, I have to cook, while he is watching TV. I was like ‘aaih it’s too much’ He wants to be a king. It was very challenging for me,” she said.

The singer narrated that she struggled with submission and had to seek help.

“I had packed three times and after mentorship class with Rev Kathy Kiuna that’s when I settled. I didn’t understand submission, I was depressed about it. Funny enough I was in church and didn’t follow what submission was and we were being taught what to do. I would speak up how I think with no editing so it was challenging,”

She, a week ago, the award-winning gospel bigshot also revealed that her teenagerhood was full of insecurities that weighed down her self-esteem.
