Two-time Kenyan Olympian Jason Dunford, who goes by the stage name Samaki Mkuu and Kenya-based Mexican singer Romantico have released a new song, Namba Yako.
The song which was released on YouTube on March 5, 2020, features award-winning Zambian singer Roberto famed for his Amarula hit.
Namba Yako follows the story of two office lovebirds and stars popular vlogger and influencer Henry Desagu and his girlfriend Jackie Mbugua.
This is the sixth collaboration between the former competitive swimmer and Romantico, who came to Kenya as a Mexican missionary before falling in love with the country.
Speaking to SDE, they revealed that Roberto recorded the hook in Zambia before forwarding the song to Romantico and Samaki Mkuu for their verses.

Getting into music
In a past interview with Sunday Magazine, Dunford revealed that he had quit competitive swimming for singing and journalism.
“People are shocked when they hear about the music because they think it is going to be terrible and then they listen and say it is not that bad. My parents thought I was insane and then they heard Mbaya, my first collaboration with Romantico they thought it was not too bad,” he said.

Dunford, arguably Kenya’s most prominent swimmer holds 17 All-Africa Games medals and a Commonwealth Games gold medal.
In 2008, he recorded his best Olympic finish by coming in fifth in Beijing.
