Jamaican reggae dancehall and recording star Adidja Azim Palmer better known as Vybz Kartel is celebrating his 44th birthday today amidst hopes that he will get a positive decision in a murder appeal.

This is the eighth consecutive year that the Colouring This Life hit-maker is spending his birthday behind bars, having been locked up in 2011.

The incarcerated singer-songwriter, and businessman has been a lot more vocal lately about the injustice he is facing with his criminal trial, more specifically his case with the court of appeal.

The Court of Appeal last December indicated that a ruling would soon be handed down. Through its registrar Stacie-Ann Reid, in a letter to Kartel's lead attorney, the court was at an "advanced stage" in preparing the judgment.

"I am feeling strong, up, and positive about everything, and I am just waiting on that special day to come, enuh," Sikka Rymes, World Boss' family member told the press.

"I look at him [Vybz Kartel] as more than a mentor. He is a father, uncle, brother, and everything in one. We may not have any celebrations planned at the moment, but I can tell you it's going to be a day all of us come together as one and just bare laughter," he added.

Vybz Kartel, Shawn Campbell, Kahira Jones, and Andre St John were convicted in 2014 for the 2011 murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams. They were all given mandatory life sentences, but the Romping Shop artiste was ordered to serve 35 years before being eligible for parole.

Late last month, the father of two took to social media to disclose that prison is one of life’s best teachers, as well as, heart-breaks, empty pockets, and failures.

Taking to Instagram to express his frustration about his current life situation, Vybz Kartel posted a meme that talks about “Life’s three best teachers.”

The photo points out that the best three teachers are “Heartbreaks,” “Empty pockets” and “Failures,” however, Kartel adds a fourth teacher to the caption where he wrote, “…and Prison!”
