A decapitated body of a college student was yesterday morning found dumped in a maize plantation at Moi’s Bridge area, Uasin Gishu County.
The 21-year-old student, who was studying beauty at a college in Eldoret, is suspected to have been raped before being hit with a blunt object at the back of her head.
Her dismembered body was found a few meters from her parents’ house.
One suspect has been arrested.
The incident sparked protests. Residents blocked Kitale-Eldoret road for hours, accusing police of laxity in ending soaring crime rate in the area.
According to the student’s mother, Beatrice Luseno, her daughter was attacked and killed inside the family’s home before her body was dragged to the farm.
“I came home at around 6 pm and found all the lights off, but I thought my daughter was still at a nearby church,” she said.
She used a spare key to open the house and found it splattered with blood, leading to the search that found her daughter’s body.
