Two people dumped fake Sh1,000 notes (old currency) in a manhole along Koinange Street yesterday.
The money attracted many people to the scene, but on picking some of the notes they realised they were fake and decided to burn them.
This comes after Central Bank Governor Patrick Njoroge maintained that the old Sh1,000 notes will be worthless come Tuesday next week.
Njoroge urged traders to speak to their banks to ensure that their old Sh1,000 notes are received by close of business on Monday next week.
