Gun drama, assault: Eight times Willy Paul courted controversy

Over the years, Willy Paul has time and again courted controversy.  His ‘Lamba Nyonyo’ song is the latest in a series of brazen acts, an attestment he could be living by the saying, ‘no publicity is bad publicity.’

Three years ago, a woman from Mathare claimed that the singer was her child’s father. According to the woman, Pozzee refused to take responsibility, instead urging her to abort. He quickly came out to deny the accusations.

On 25 October 2018, the singer shared a video of himself in his office with a table loaded with stacks of money, insinuating that he’s loaded.

In late 2018, a video circulating on social media depicted the singer assaulting a woman at his Syokimau home. The singer later said that the altercation was all acted and is part of his upcoming reality show, which we are yet to see.

During the 2019 Choma Na Ngoma Festival, his lewd dance with Tanzania’s Nandy once more ignited talk on whether he really is a gospel artist. Their collaboration, ‘Hallelujah,’ meaning ‘God be praised,’ was also bashed for using a Christian term, yet the message had nothing to do with God.

The singer also refers to himself as ‘bwana mkunaji,’ which he told SDE refers to the act of lovemaking.

Most recently, the singer shared a photo of a gun on Instagram with the caption, ‘I love toys.’ He later pulled down the post.

Speaking of guns, an undated video of the singer threatening to draw his gun during an argunmet has emerged. In the video, Pozzee is seen sititng in his vehicle with the door open embroiled in an argument with unkown persons

“Si umeni attack? Tukianza kupigana risasi hapa kuna shida?” he is heard saying.
