Evaline Momanyi explains social media absence

News

Evaline Momanyi, Janet Mbugua’s sister-in-law, is back on Instagram with an eye-opening experience that forced her to go MIA for a while.

Narrating her story on her Instagram page, Evaline revealed her daughter was burnt with hot water at home under the care of her nanny.

The board member to the Africa Advisory Board of Save the Children UK says she was at work when she got the phone call.

“Mid last week, I got an accident in the house. I know when something happens to someone's baby, guys are always like....how? I am so 'routine and rule-based' that when I got a call from work that Miss. K had got burnt with hot water, I was like....What?” she wrote.

She, however, assured her fans that her baby is doing really well and urged parents to embrace accidents saying they are bound to happen.

“It was an accident, but it was a careless oversight from my Nanny. But guess what, as I sat in the hospital, everyone was shaking about what will happen when I go back home. Anyone who knows me, it’s not good to be around me when I’m angry. Guess what, I was calm. I didn't even cause. I just said, I hope this is a lesson.

“You want to know how kids are resilient? See a baby with burn marks running around and living her best play life. Her nanny loves her and I saw how much it broke her heart and she was clear on the negligence on her part,” she continued.

Momanyi’s long post prompted her followers to share their experiences with toddler accidents and some wishing baby Kwanza quick recovery..

Davidmuriithi 30 yrs ago I once dropped my 1 yr old Niece on her head. She just 'slipped' out of my hands and onto the floor. My sister (her Mum) just picked her up and applied a cold compress and gave her calpol as she then took her to the hospital for a check up later that afternoon. Luckily absolutely no.damage except for a little bump (our family are hard heads... Literally). I think I was still frozen at the scene of the accident when they got back from Hospital....

Lisskubs I remember when I was around 11 and my sister was about 2 years. Someone called my mum downstairs as we lived 3rd floor, she instructed i pour black tea into cups to cool down as I was pouring from the thermos my sister decided she want to reach for her cup which was at the end, wah her wrist got burned and she started yelling. I dipped her in a bucket of water. Meanwhile my mum who isn’t that tiny was sprinting from downstairs thinking am killing her baby. I was last born for 9years so she thought am taking out my sister. It didn’t help she found her inside a bucket.

Brownmuzungu @mo.momanyi so sorry to hear bout Kwanza . Kids are tough. Harun fell and dislocated his elbow and has a fracture. He fell under my watch. It was just frightening. And fast forward a week and he was found at the same spot he fell from trying to do the same thing. My doctor who’s also my good friend pretty much told me ... it could have happened anywhere and that’s why it’s an accident. I’m sure your nanny is shook. All will be well in a few days. Sending healing and positive vibes

Wambuikbr Thank God baby k is fine

Re.gina7656 My son drank paraffin. The way nannies go to visit their friends and it happened to be at a kibanda. He was 2yrs together with the son of the shop owner they drank paraffin. They gave them milk and biscuits took him to hospital and after a day all was well. I was not angry having raised my first son who was in school then I knew she didn't mean to harm just that accidents happen. Every breath that came out of the boy was all paraffin for like a week. Kids are well protected by God.
