Boy ran over by DP Ruto's entourage succumbs to injuries

A seven-year-old boy ran over by a vehicle in Deputy President William Ruto’s entourage in Busia on Friday, June 7, is dead.

This is according to DP Ruto who posted that Sidney Mamba Felix succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to hospital following the accident that occurred as he left a function during his tour of Busia County.

“Saddened by the news of the passing on of Sidney Mambala Felix, a young and bubbly boy. Followed closely the situation after I was informed of the unfortunate incident and, now, deeply condole with the family of Mzee Mambala, his peers and friends for the grave loss of a loved one.

“I have spoken with Mzee to pass my consideration and assured the family of reference and support during this difficult time. May God rest young Sidney in eternal peace,” read a tweet from the DP.

According to the DP, his office was appraised of his condition as he received medical attention.

“It has come to my attention that after leaving a function in my development tour of Busia County, a young boy, Sidney Mamba Felix, got in an accident involving a car in my entourage. Following the unfortunate incident, Sidney was placed under immediate medical attention and my office is being appraised of and reacting to the boy’s condition to ensure he gets proper treatment. Praying for a quick recovery.”

Last year, one of the outriders in the DP’s motorcade lost his life as Dr. Ruto headed to a funeral in Githunguri, Kiambu County.

Constable Casmel Ndege perished after he lost control of his bike along the Wangari Maathai Road.

Ndege was riding ahead of Dr. Ruto.

"Deepest condolences to the family and friends of Constable Casmel Ndege who has passed on in the line of duty. He was a gallant, hardworking and dedicated professional.

"We celebrate him for his selfless service to this country. May his Soul Rest In Peace," the DP mourned the officer in 2018.
