Nigerian popstar Patoranking lived up to his billing when he charmed his Kenyan fans at the Choma na Ngoma music extravaganza at KICC grounds in Nairobi, yesterday.

The artiste took to the stage at 2.40am with the hit song, No Kissing Baby.

“I love Nairobi!” he shouted as he performed the next song, Particula, which sent the crowd into a frenzy. The Kenyans’ love for the Naija songstar was evident when he appeared earlier alongside Sauti Soul to belt out the Melanin hit. Sauti Sol also drove the crowd wild with their Sura Yako hit.

They then sang Tujiangalie, parodying leaders who have mismanaged the country.

“You voted but they’re busy messing us up,” Bien told the crowd that responded in the affirmative. In the crowd was musician and Starehe MP Njagua. The evergreen group debuted a new number Extravaganza, that borrows from Caribbean idiomatic expression of Calypso beats.

The combination of Radio Maisha’s MC Mwende Macharia and MC Philipo lit up Choma na Ngoma, keeping revellers on their feet.

Nikikutazama and Kiatu from Kenya’s duo H-Art The Band were the icing on the cake, as Choma na Ngoma second edition came to a close, ushering in Madaraka Day.

DRC’s musical diva Alicios performed the hit Mpita Njia.

“Choma na Ngoma was once again an unqualified success, confirming the enduring popularity and influence of Radio Maisha, a brand which, on top of its long-standing reputation as a market leader in Kenya, is now synonymous with a world-class concert experience,” said Standard Group’s Head of Radio, Tom Japanni.
