How Anne Waiguru's husband saved hairdresser's marriage

Mobile money transactions almost wrecked the marriage of a hairdresser preferred by the daughters of city lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo.

This is according to a Facebook post where Waiganjo claimed that an unidentified man called him demanding that he keeps off from his wife, a saloonist.

The man, seething in rage, had reportedly gone through his wife’s phone and found regular M-Pesa transactions between the two.

“Kenyan men and their issues… So, I get this call from an agitated husband telling me to leave his wife alone.

“Who’s this nut? I wonder. His evidence? He has gone through her phone and I send M-Pesa to her regularly. Of course, I say that’s nonsense. Then out of curiosity, I ask for her number,” narrated Waiganjo.

The man was, however, forced to eat humble pie after he realized that the transactions were regular business undertakings upon being pressed further by the lawyer.

“Then it turns out that she is my two daughters’ Kenyatta Market hairdresser, so of course I send her money via M-Pesa regularly. Embarrassed, humble, profuse apologies, one marriage saved,” he added.

The former Commission for Implementation of the Constitution (CIC) commissioner paid Anne Waiguru's bride price in an exclusive ceremony held in Kiamungo village in Kirinyaga on February 16.

He went down on one knee at the Lord Eroll hotel in Runda, Nairobi, 10 years after she caught his eye while they were on a constitutional conference at the coast.

“I was completely surprised. We had not been talking about formalising our relationship so I did not expect it. We had just come from holidays and were celebrating his birthday as we do with close friends every year,” said Waiguru.
