Cases of crimes of passion have become frequent. Even a senior resident magistrate has been accused of killing her lawyer husband.

It is suspected that Robert Chesang, a city-based advocate was either killed because of a love triangle or property dispute.

The deceased’s, wife, Pauline Maisy Chesang, is in detention in connection with the killing. Chesang, 46, was shot three times at their Moke Gardens home in Lukenya on February 17.

Also in custody in connection with the lawyer’s murder are Lawrence Lempesi, a retired senior police officer, and Peter Mbithi, who is attached to the Mutuine police post.

Chesang’s murder took place almost a month after a man and his girlfriend were arrested in connection with the murder of Mary Wambui Kamangara on January 26.

Joseph Kori Karue and Judy Wangui Mungai were arrested soon after the body of Wambui was found dumped in a dam in Juja with head injuries.

Kori and Wangui were allegedly lovers and Wambui was reportedly aware of the affair.

According to police, Wambui died in Wangui’s house. But circumstances that led Wambui to drive to Wangui’s house are still unclear.

Kori was recently released as investigators could not place him at the scene of crime. Michael Mathenge, a taxi operator, is being held alongside Wangui. Police say he helped Wangui to transport the body of the late Wambui.

Meanwhile, Bernard Chege, the man who survived the May 20, 2018 shooting at City Park in Parklands, Nairobi, denied having an affair with his aunt, Janet Wangui Waiyaki, who was shot and killed in the incident.

He told the court that on the fateful day, he picked his aunt at her home in Donholm and they drove to City Park.

According to the 27-year-old, it was not the first time for them to go to the park where they liked to relax and chew miraa.

Police had initially claimed the two were having sex inside their car.
