Sunshine Secondary along Lang’ata Road in Nairobi is a boys’ boarding school which was established by retired President Daniel arap Moi in 1995.

The school did not believe in caning students, but things fell in place under the leadership of Kiptum Kibet who was respected in equal measures by both teachers, parents and students before handing the mantle to Daniel Sugut.

The school is managed by patron, departmental, board of directors, PTA and school administration.

In 1998, the first batch sat for KCSE exams and made a surprise entry in the top league coming position six nationally.

Beside academic prowess, the school nicknamed ‘Sodium’ has maintained grip in basketball and rugby by producing icon players nationally.

Some of notable alumni who sang motto “Shine in Excellence” in dark blue trousers and sky blue shirts with dark blue; red striped tie on grey sweater include Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala who learnt scripting and stage acting besides playing rugby.

Others includes, Nelson Nyandat also known as seremala and Cyprian Kuto who plays for KCB rugby team, Brian Beckham who signed for Nondescripts RFC in South Africa, Arthur Omolo Ogonji-Finance Manager for International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Society in West Africa and city lawyer Kihang’ah Mwangi of Kihang’a & Company Advocates.
