A man found himself in hot soup for being in possession of police-issue handcuffs.
Alex Gichuki, who was arraigned in Milimani Law Courts, was accused of handling property belonging to the Kenya Police Service.
The court heard that Gichuki was arrested on February 22 along River Road.
Police believe that the handcuffs were stolen or unlawfully obtained.
Gichuki faced another charge of attempting to commit a felony together with Kelvin Chabakach and Peter Macharia, who were not in court.
The two requested the court to allow them to be taken to hospital for medical attention after they were beaten ruthlessly by the public.
It is alleged that on the fateful day, the accused were harassing the public pretending to be police officers along River Road.
The matter was reported to cops who managed to arrest them.
In court, Gichuki denied the charges.
He was released on a surety bond of Sh100,000 with an alternative of Sh50,000 cash bail.
