A man has been charged with stabbing his girlfriend who is a police officer.
The accused, identified as Kenneth Wahome Muthoni who works as a driver, is alleged to have unlawfully attempted to cause the death of Caroline Waithera by stabbing her using a kitchen knife.
Police said the incident took place on January 5 within Embakasi’s Kayole Junction.
The court heard that Waithera had just parted ways with her colleagues and was heading home after a night shift. The accused allegedly attacked her from behind on her way home.

According to police reports, Wahome stabbed Waithera in the back, neck, forehead and shoulder, thus inflicting injuries that affected her vocal cord.
Afterwards, the accused is said to have dragged her up the stairs before taking off.
The court heard that Waithera managed to scream and alerted neighbours who rushed her to hospital in serious condition.

Wahome admitted in court that he was in a relationship with Waithera, but denied the charges in court.
He was released on Sh300, 000 bond. The case will begin on April 11.
