Tushangilie Kenya orchestral rendition done by Ghetto Classics musical group has rocked the airwaves and has since grabbed the President’s attention.
Taking to social media to acknowledge the rendition, President Uhuru Kenyatta heaped praise on the group saying they have proved to be one of the most talented music groups in Kenya.
“As we close the year, I am pleased to share with you the Ghetto Classics orchestral rendition of the song Tushangilie Kenya, composed by Thomas Wesonga. Ghetto Classics have distinguished themselves as one of the most talented musical groups in #Kenya,” read the President’s post.
The patriotic song, composed by Thomas Wesonga, praises Kenya’s heritage and has always been played during Kenya’s state functions.
Ghetto Classics, a flagship programme of Art of Music Foundation, did the rendition as part of the foundation’s mission to promote performance and appreciation of art music in Kenya.
Founded in 2009, the foundation aims to use its transformative power to change lives, particularly of those living in underprivileged areas of the country.
The community programme involves over 300 children in Korogocho, one of Kenya’s biggest slum and home to about 300,000 slum dwellers. It also includes over 600 more children from 10 different areas around Nairobi.
