An officer died from injuries he sustained after he was hit in the head with a stone in a club in Embakasi.
County police boss Joseph ole Tito said Charles Oigoro had been partying with friends on Tuesday night when he was alerted of a man throwing stones into the club.
He was hit by one of the stones the unnamed man had been throwing when he went out to arrest him.
Mr Tito said Oigoro was taken to Bristol Park Hospital before he was referred to Komarock Modern Healthcare, where he died.
Body found in NCPB storeroom
Elsewhere, badly decomposed body of a man was discovered in a National Cereals and Produce Board silo in Kitale on Christmas Day.
The body was found by a watchman who sensed a foul smell emanating from one of the silos and alerted the police.
It took police officers several hours to retrieve the body from the waterlogged underground storage facility.
Kitale OCPD Jackson Mwenga said investigations into the incident had started.
“We don’t know under what circumstances the man died. We don’t know whether he was killed and body dumped there or he committed suicide.
“Forensic investigations will be conducted to establish what could have happened,” Mwenga told The Standard.
Though the silos are not being utilised, they are guarded by watchmen from a local security firm.
The silos have heavy covers that require a lot of force to open and hence the man could not have committed suicide, said a man who lives near the area.
