Kaka Empire CEO King Kaka has expressed gratitude to Ivy Awino better known as Poizon Ivy the DJ for sampling his song Dundaing during the Dallas Mavericks and Portland Trail Blazers game on Wednesday.
Thrilled, King Kaka thanked Ivy for the recognition saying it was another win days after launching a 22 track album dubbed Eastlando Royalty on Friday at Uhuru Gardens.
“Another win!! And we are NBA. We are Dundaing DALvsPOR. Big up@poizoivytheDJ,” wrote King Kaka.
Ivy was the official DJ during the National Basketball Association (NBA) game that saw Portland Trail Blazers slide to a 111-102 slump in Dallas.
She shared a video of the moment the song played, noting that her friend King Kaka shared the international platform with renowned acts such as Pitbull.
“My goal every game night is for @dallasmavs @nba fans to not only have the time fir their lives but to go on a cultured musical excursion as well. Tonight we travelled East kwa mabeast home, Kenya, where we dundaid (Danced) to the sounds of my good friends @KingKaka @magix_enga @kristoffmwb. Then with the help of my girls @mavsdancers we, took it to carnival with @pitbull @machelmontano, where shall we go next #DALvsPOR #Eastafrica #Kenya #NBADJS,” she wrote.
Ivy Awino was born in Nairobi before relocating to Dallas in 1999 and is now the resident DJ for the Dallas Mavericks.
The team is an NBA franchise owned by billionaire Mark Cuban.
