A Tanzania actress shot to death in Johannesburg South Africa has been laid to rest in Chamazi, Dar es Salaam.
According to Global Publishers, Leyness Ngunguye was found in a pool of blood having been shot in the leg by unknown people in Nando’s Johannesburg.
Her relative, Dalini Ngunguye said that the actress had gone shopping with a friend when she was shot.
“Nilitoka nikaelekea hospitalini alikofikishwa kwa ajili ya huduma ya kwanza na baadaye kutaka kumuona ndipo nilielezwa kuwa itakuwa ngumu kutokana na hali yake kuwa mbaya.
“Niliendelea kusubiria ili nifanikiwe kumuona, lakini muda mfupi nilipatiwa taarifa kwamba ameshafariki dunia kutokana na kutokwa na damu kwa muda mrefu kufuatia jeraha la risasi aliyopigwa mguuni kisha akatokwa damu nyingi zilizotengeneza dimbwi baada ya kuanguka chini,” said Dalini.
Dalini added that prior to the shooting, the bongo star had disclosed that she was fearing for her life and had received threatening messages.
“Nilijaribu kumshawishi aende kwenye vyombo vya sheria na nilikuwa ninamweleza hivyo mara nyingi sana kila aliponionesha ujumbe wa kutumiwa na huyo rafiki yake.
“Lakini yeye aliishia kutoa kauli ya kusema anamwachia Mungu ndiye anayejua kwani ndiye mpangaji wa kila jambo.”
The deceased started with the group Kilimanjaro Feature before relocating to South Africa in 2000 where she appeared in movies such as Bad Friend.
She has left behind three children.
