A former campaign planner of a Nairobi Member of County Assembly has been charged with offensive conduct after attempting to clobber a Member of County Assembly.
Police said Michael Otieno Angira attempted to beat up MCA Naftali Ogola on October 8 for refusing to pay Sh2, 000 debt.
The court heard that the accused charged at the MCA at Kariobangi Police Station demanding to know why he had not been paid for campaign services he offered in 2017 - and which in which Ogola triumphed.
Police said the suspect shouted at top of his voice accusing the MCA of playing cat and mouse games with him.
The court heard that attempts to calm the suspect were futile as he turned uncontrollable and violent.
Police at the Station was forced to intervene. The suspect was restrained and booked for misconduct before being arraigned in court.
In his defence, the suspect accused MCA Ogola of dumping him in the cold after clinching the coveted seat.
He said: “He was supposed to pay me Sh2, 000, but has failed to do so. I saw him at the police station and went to meet him. I only want him to pay me, but his aides claimed I was embarrassing their boss, and that is why they bundled me into the cells.”
The suspect claimed he called out to the O.C.S. after he was restrained to seek his help, only to be arrested and charged.
The court granted him a cash bail of Sh10, 000. The case will be heard on January 29, 2019.
