Unlike many entertainers who always look for ways they can join politics, Kibera Namba Nane rapper Octopizzo is not interested in seeking a post.

According to Octopizzo, he does not need to switch careers and be a politician in order to be a leader.

Staki kua MP, not all Leaders are politicians and all politicians aren’t leaders, artists should be the mouth piece or mirror of their communities and should always be aware of their social challenges, and I am using my platforms to address and bring to attention the challenges,” he wrote.

His tweet comes days after the rapper interacted with Ugandan politician Bobi Wine who was on a five-day tour in the country.

Octopizzo, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Grandpa Records CEO Refigah and Bobi Wine later headed to Kibera for a political rally.

This year alone, celebrities such as Dj Mo, Betty Kyalo, Comedian Jalang’o have revealed their interests in joining politics.

Many have insisted that they are not interested in it because of money but rather because they are planning to use the platform to mentor youths.

“It is something that has crossed my mind a number of times and the thing is we have quite a number of young leaders now who are in Parliament,” said Betty Kyalo.

“I just want to see whether they will deliver on the promises they made to young people. I am really looking at the young politicians, the likes of Babu Owino, Jaguar and Caleb Hamisi and I hope that they can deliver to some extent.

"If they can, then I will know there is hope for other people like me who would want to represent young people or Kenyan women in another platform. It’s not alien to me but I’m waiting to see.”

Singer Jaguar, former comedian John Kiare and Sabina Wanjiru Chege are some of entertainers who successfully penetrated the political sphere while others like Gilbert Baraza, Boniface Mwangi, rapper Cannibal and Frasha are among the many who tried their luck in vain.
