Tanzania President John Magufuli Pombe’s sister is dead.
According to reports, Monica Joseph Magufuli passed away on Sunday at the Bugando Hospital in Mwanza.
The government spokesman, Gerson Msigwa confirmed the death stating, ““I am sad to inform that the sister to President Magufuli, Monica Joseph Magufuli has passed away at Bugando Hospital in Mwanza.”
She passed away while admitted at the facility’s ICU unit.
Following her passing, ODM party leader Rails Odinga condoled with the family:
I have learnt with sorrow of the passing of Ms. Monica Joseph Magufuli, sister to H.E President @MagufuliJP My sincere condolences to the family and the people of Tanzania at this time of mourning. We are together in sorrow.

Her death comes just a day after President Magufuli paid her a visit at the ICU as she recovered from what is reported to be a heart problem.
Raila and Magufuli are good friends and during Fidel Odinga’s funeral on January 10th 2015, Magufuli, the then Minister for Construction attended the burial and even gave a speech.
