Vera Sidika explains why she deleted Otile Brown's photos

Socialite Vera Sidika and singer Otile Brown deleting each other's photos on social media was not a stunt aimed at pushing their latest release Baby Love.

The couples left Kenyans confused a few weeks ago after they unfriended, deleted the pictures and avoided talking about each only to reappear a week later with a brand new song and a stream of love messages for each other.

Kenyans, who believed the two had broken up -rather, Sidika had dumped Otile - changed tune and started claiming they were fooled for some YouTube views.

Sidika, however, insists the act was all about image.

They want to control their love narrative online since it has been slowly getting out of hand.

“We did not delete the pictures to make people think that we had broken up," said Sidika while speaking to E-daily." [The love we portray in the music video] says it all."

Kenyans were posting too many negative comments on their photos something that left Sidika and Otile, who have been together for just 5 months now, concerned. The couple was coming from a sponsored vacation, a thing that had littered their accounts with too many holiday images and more than enough raw materials for viral memes.

“We wanted to avoid too much bile that online users were directing at us," she said. "Many people were talking about Otile Brown and Vera Sidika’s affair. We sat down and decided to shape the agenda of what was being said about us on our timelines."

Stunt or not, Baby Love is doing amazing numbers on YouTube. At a time when the R&B genre has been labelled basically dead, Otile's song managed to pull in a million views in just a week, a number many Kenyan artists toss and turn in bed at night trying to figure out how they'll hit in two months.
