A man from Embu who bled to death after chopping off his penis was mentally sick.

Dominic Mugo, a 55-year-old farmer used a pair of scissors to sever his penis in Ngerwe village, Kibugu area.

Embu North Deputy County Commissioner, Jeremiah Tumo told The Nairobian that Mugo was a drug addict, which had resulted in his mental illness.

It is alleged that Mugo, who was found dead lying in a pool of blood, had told his neighbours that he was sad since he couldn’t find a woman to marry.

“We suspect he committed suicide since he could not get a woman to marry. We heard  cries coming from his house, only to find him unconscious, lying in a pool of blood while clutching a pair of scissors,” a neighbour said.

Tumo claimed Mugo’s death was sad and there was need to educate residents on the harmful effects of drugs.

“We are working with members of community policing and the nyumba kumi initiative to weed out bhang peddlers. A boda boda rider is being probed on suspicion that he supplies students with drugs,” said Tumo.
