On 10th June, a vehicle belonging to a former nominated senator was impounded over an outstanding loan.
A shylock impounded the Toyota Landcruiser belonging to Paul Njoroge, claiming that the former senator defaulted on a Sh3 million loan he took.
According to reports Meridian Acceptance Limited CEO James Ndwigah, Njoroge used the vehicle as security when taking the loan back in 2016.
Ndwigah further claimed that the senator is yet to fully refund the money and has in the past issued several bouncing cheques.
The loan shark further stated that was forced to auction off the vehicle after the former senator immobilised a tracking device on the vehicle as assurance that the debt would be repaid.
Njoroge reported the matter at the DCI headquarters accusing police of colluding with the loan shark to harass him without a court order.
He further claimed that police officers roughed him up after storming his business premises in Kitengela. He was allegedly taken to Central Police Station and on returning, he found out that the vehicle had been towed away.
"The vehicle was stolen because they didn’t have a key. They went to my hotel's counter and forcefully took the keys to the car and gate before driving off," Njoroge stated.
Gun Drama
In February 2017, the former senator caused a stir after shooting in the air to stop attempts by Vivo Energy Company to close a petrol station he runs in Naivasha town.
He sent a group of workers and the public scampering for safety at Karai along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway after unleashing his gun.
The company sought to confiscate some equipment at the Shell petrol station after the former senator allegedly failed to follow some rules.
